Frequently asked questions

Are our coops flat pack?

Absolutely not! They are built on our property from scratch, and are delivered or picked up fully assembled- all you need to do is add the chickens! This is why we ask you about property access- if it's going in your backyard, there needs to be access for the width of the coop you're ordering.

Do we deliver?

We sure do, all over Victoria!  We just charge a delivery fee to cover fuel and our time.

How many chooks can fit in each coop?

Each size in the product gallery has the recommended amount of chickens listed, but this also depends on breed (if you have bantams you can fit more), and if they'll have access to a pen or yard- if they'll just be sleeping and laying in the coop, then you can fit more.

Do we sell chickens?

Yes we do on a small scale. Just ask us if we have any available when you're ordering a coop. We'll often have young, well handled, roosters to give away too.

Do our coops need oiling or painting?

To keep your coop looking brand new and avoid the timber fading, we recommend a good quality decking oil such as Cutek CD50 which can also be tinted to the colour you prefer. This is obviously optional, but without some sort of protection, the timber will grey over time. Our kids can do this for you for you as an optional extra if required.

Is the wire we use regular chicken wire?

No it's not. we use a 1.4mm heavy duty fencing wire, this is what makes our coops fox proof (and trust me, they're fox proof, we recently had a fox try and get in and all he did was dig a hole, hit the floor wire and then he gave up). Standard chicken wire is 1mm and can easily be bent out of shape, and bitten through by foxes- no chance of this happening with our wire, unless the fox has an angle grinder!!

Can we customise our coops?

Absolutely! Just give us a call or text to discuss your options.

What is your turnaround time?

Currently, we're sitting at about 4 weeks from ordering to completion/delivery. Once you order, we require a deposit to lock in your spot in the queue. If you don't want to wait, we usually we have ready made coops that can be purchased on the spot by arrangement.

Can we look at your coops in person?

You sure can! We personally have a Mega coop and a Standard coop (with customisations for baby chicks) on our property, as well as several ready made coops in our shed for you to have a look at. Viewing is available by appointment.
